I have always wanted to have a blog of my own ever since I stumbled across one several years ago on the internet. I can't even remember what the blog was, but when I first found it I read it from beginning to present day over the course of a weekend. I soon fell in love with blogging and found several others that I peruse on a regular basis. For a while I liked my anonymity, but the itch to start a blog of my very own has been simmering beneath my surface for about a year. The idea of having my own corner of the internet to make all nice and cozy for myself and other lovely people is just too tempting not to take part of.
In which I enter the world of the fashion blog.
I finally grew the guts to start one around Christmas-time of last year. That was when I though fashion blogging would be my "thing" because that's what I loved reading most. *snort* It's not that I don't love looking cute and having fun with my clothes (I LOVE it!), but I hate taking and posting pictures of myself. It's no fun for me. I wrote a couple of outfit posts (and whined in several more posts), and eventually decided to delete it. At the time I told myself "I didn't have time," which was a joke. I just hadn't found my realm of blogging yet.
So what am I doing here, anyway?
I'm one of those people that likes to learn when it's self-motivated, which usually means I'm learning something that interests me. If not there's not a little challenge (but not and overwhelming one), I tend to not do things. That's why fashion blogging wasn't my thang-->wearing clothes that I like wasn't a challenge to me; I've always done it. However, the whole photography side of that rendezvous was a different story. I have a (somewhat) natural good eye for photography and deep appreciation for everything that goes into it. I've played with (and broken) many a film , polaroid, disposable and digital camera in my lifetime, but have never actually pursued any kind of real knowledge on the subject. Well, I think it's time for a change! I want to learn different techniques and styles of photography and all that good stuff. There's so much and I know so little, which is beyond exciting.
In which I ameliorate (see what I did there?) my photography skills.
I am going to post one picture (along with some [much shorter than this] anecdote) every Monday thru Friday, with maybe an extra little post on weekends. I'm putting myself on a regimen, forcing myself to take pictures and ever more pictures. I'm going to mess up (a lot), but that's okay because that's how you learn. The idea of documenting all my failures is frightening, but it has to happen or else I won't do it. I probably won't actually make it every day (I've got a move coming up that'll put a roadblock on this), but I'm going to try my damndest to be close.
In which I congratulate you.
I deeply apologize for the wordy post. I know I could have easily written my objective in a trim paragraph, but I'm one of those people that has to write stuff down or it doesn't happen. So here I am. Congratulations if you made it through this (you really didn't have to). To spare you (...anybody?) some agony, my first picture post will be entirely on its own. Now to go work on that!
See ya later, Alligator!
